The Feast of Saint Valentine
Valentine's Day or Saint Valentine's Day originated as a Western Christian event. Also known as the feast of Saint Valentine set about by Pope Gelasius to be celebrated on February, 14th to honour Saint Valentine of Rome who died that very same day. This even became associated with love and grew into an occasion whereby couples would express their love for one another by giving heart shapes and winged cupids along with flowers, confectionery, and cards. Valentine's Day is now seen as an important and religious celebration of love and romance in many parts of the world.
It is the season of love. If your perfect Valentine's Date night is getting all dressed up for a night on the town, ideally followed up by a fancy candle lit dinner, then this year's Valentine's Day may not have you buzzing with excitement. Many of us cram as many romantic activities into February, 14th such as candlelit dinners, couples massage, cocktails at a swanky lounge or even a night away. As the pandemic still takes hold and lockdowns continue across the world and restriction rules affect what you can and cannot do, a night of indoor dining at home is more than likely your only option this year. Before you decide that sounds boring, and opt to pass on the celebration, may i remind you that Valentine's Day at home can be just as magical and romantic as anywhere else, it just requires a little thought and creativity.

Celebrating with your partner this year should be just as good if not better. Why not go all out this year and make the ultimate at home Valentine's Day. They say the way to a man's heart is through his stomach, and they are not wrong! You could recreate your first date, wear matching pyjamas or even surprise them with breakfast in bed.
But first things first, decide on that all important dinner menu.
If you are one who enjoys cooking, then you're already off to a great start. Go all out with an extravagant 3 course meal, something that you do not often have, and even homemade dessert cut into heart shapes? Or go buffet style and get creative making mini desserts or fun appetizers to get the romance going.
So have some fun this year with Valentine's Day and make it a day to remember.
